Japanese audio specialist Final Audio has introduced the UX3000, a pair of wireless on-ear headphones with hybrid active noise cancellation, Bluetooth 5.0 and support for aptX Low Latency.

The UX3000 expands Final’s wireless headphone range following the Eva 2020 line. Its feature set is aimed at listeners who want a single pair of headphones for music, video, gaming, calls and everyday travel or office use, with wired listening also available via the supplied 3.5mm analogue cable.

Hybrid active noise cancellation

The UX3000 is Final’s first wireless on-ear model to use hybrid noise-cancelling technology. Active noise cancellation works by using microphones and electronically generated sound to reduce external noise before it reaches the listener. Final positions the hybrid system as a way to provide noise reduction while maintaining the intended audio performance of the headphones.

Noise cancellation can be activated independently of music playback. That makes the UX3000 usable simply for reducing surrounding noise, while its microphone function allows it to be used for phone calls and teleconferencing when external distractions need to be kept at bay.

Bluetooth codecs, low latency and multipoint

Alongside the standard SBC and AAC Bluetooth codecs, the UX3000 supports aptX and aptX LL. The latter is designed for low-latency wireless transmission, an important consideration when watching video or playing games, where an audible delay between picture and sound can be distracting.

Multipoint connectivity lets the headphones remain connected to two devices at once, such as a computer and smartphone. In practice, this is useful for those moving between a work call on a laptop and audio from a phone without needing to repeatedly disconnect and re-pair the headphones.

Battery life and supplied accessories

Final quotes up to 25 hours of continuous music playback with ANC enabled, increasing to up to 35 hours with noise cancellation switched off. A full charge takes approximately 2.5 hours.

The supplied package includes a USB Type-C charging cable, a 3.5mm analogue audio cable and a carrying case.
